Origins:
The Volpe Family name is familiar in the Lehigh Valley. Americo Volpe immigrated from Italy in 1915. He immediately started chasing the American dream at age 11. Through his hard work and relentless pursuit of his dreams, he was able to open several businesses over the years (Restaurants, Cannery, Bakery). Americo started what is now Volpe’s Sports Bar Allentown (19th and Tilghman St) in the early 1940s and continued to operate a comfortable neighborhood bar and eatery until he retired in 1972-and the family kept the business going. In 1981 Americo passed on and then in 1984 his son Robert took over operations of the family business and made it into the local landmark it is today.
Today:
Volpe’s Sports Bar remains a family business now involving Robert’s three children Mike, Fran and Robin, who each play a big part in continuing to grow the business and build on their Grandfather’s creation. In 2008 Fran branched out and opened a second location, Volpe’s Sports Bar Emmaus (5th & Broad St, Previously the Broad St. Saloon). At Volpe’s Sports Bar, we pride ourselves in running a clean, safe and affordable establishment where people can relax and feel comfortable while they enjoy our tasty food and spirits. Both locations feature all of the major sports packages, at least 20 HD TVs, and much of the same classic food Volpe’s has served for decades.
Allentown: Located in Allentown’s West End. Relax outside and watch your favorite game on our new patio. Inside, play classic Tavern Games (Pool, Darts, Pinball, etc.). Enjoy all of your favorite Beers on Tap over 15 Draft Beers to choose from (Domestics, Imports and Seasonal Crafts). You can even select a premium cigar from our humidor. We also have over 100 different brands and packages of cold beer to go.
Emmaus: Located in Emmaus on Broad Street. Two different bars to choose from… The Original Bar Dating back to the 20’s (Modern Day Cigar Bar) or our Main Bar/Dining room (Smoke Free Environment) with 20 TVs and a Pool Table. Rotating over 12 Beers on Draft and 50+ Bottled Beers, Great Take Out Menu for Food and Beer. We have a private room available for parties and we specialize in Catering events in house.
